Lets hear some ideas on how to ventilate a combustion chamber (4" diameter) after each shot quickly without needing to carry anything extra around with the gun.

well you did say without havin to cary anything around, but you could use a plunger, just push it in and pull it out once. you could even use it as a ramrod or somthin. its not that inconvienient realy cause you are allready carring a bag of potatoes or somthing around

True, but I'd rather not carry anything else around. I'm trying to build an optimal paintball cannon.

hmmm... i see. i just got this idea about 5 minutes ago so it prolly needs work, other than using a fan you could take one of those like 2" pvc ball valves and hook it to the the side of your chamber. then take one of those small battery powered vacumes and attach it to the ball valve with duct tape and some of the flexable alluminum airduct pipe or whatever. when you want to fire you close the ball valve to keep the pressure from blowing up the vacume, when you need to vent the air, open it and turn on the vacume for a few seconds. much faster than a fan

I was thinking along the lines of something like that actually. But where do you suggest I find a vacuum like that?

prolly like ebay, id buy the cheapest one so long as it works. it doesn't have to pick up solid material, so cheapness doesn't matter to much

that looks pretty good. the batterys don't need to last verry long cause it will only be on for a few seconds after you fire. wouldn't take much to suck some new air into the chamber

I think I might give it a try. I need to get a job before I can afford my new launcher though.

Hehehe, I like your style. That's a lot like what I try for. But I also pay attention to quality. I dislike when my gun decides to be unreliable.

It might be possible to use a piston inside the chamber that slides by gravity, or if it comes to it, you could add a handle that goes through a hole in the clean out cap, and say a one-way valve of sizeable proportions. BUt I really don't like the fan idea. It'll work, it's just that you can't beat literally shoving the air out with some sort of piston.

perhaps not, but after the piston has gone as far in as possible there will still be dirty air in the barrel that will get sucked back in when the piston is removed
