My Idea for a rifling machine would be a crank with a rod on one end and a thick nail or something on the end sticking out the side. When you turn the crank the nail cuts grooves in the pipe?? Don't know if it'll work, but I know if anyone can build it it's you Boogie! ;D

I've given some thought to this myself. My best idea would be a long rod with a cross bar at both ends. One of these crossbars would be the handle - the other would be inserted into the barrel. Now, this is the tricky part. The rifling end would have to be hollow, sticking out either end would be two sharp spikes of some type which would press against the inner wall of the barrel. (I don't say nails because I don't think they would dig deep enough and would have too high a chance of jamming) These shard rods would be spring loaded from inside so as to keep even pressure against the inner wall of the barrel. Now - the other tough part is the actual rifling operation. Rifling will only work if the spirals on the inside move at a constant "Slope" up the barrel. That is the say, they must move the same number of degrees for every inch they move upwards for the entire barrel. My only answer to this right now is just being very careful, but There's probably a better answer.

linear actuator with a high torque electric moter attached to the end with blades......the blades spin at a constant speed and the actuator moves at a constant speed since it is computer controlled.....a bit expencive....but tis the price of perfection
