I'm not sure how many of you know about these, but Nestle makes these little ice cream tubes called "Push Ups". They are small cardboard tubes about the size of toilet paper rolls with a plastic insert at the bottom that is pushed up with a stick that hangs off of it. It basically works like a caulk gun. It fits PERFECTLY in 1.5" barrels and is much stronger than a milk cap and has more support to keep it from turning sideways. I don't have a gun with a 1.5" barrel yet, so I cannot try it out. Do it for me and let me know how it goes. Heres a picture of something like it. (Different brand, not sure if the off brands will fit.)

Yeah dude, those things are damn good and my grandma bought a few boxes of em, so I ate one and, man, they are great, I went back to the freezer and ate a bunch more. Haha. But I was looking at them and thought about the disk part fitting in PVC. Being at my grandma's house, I had no PVC around, so I took it and compared it to a milk cap just to give me a rough estimate. I collected a bunch of them from what I ate and from what my brother and sisters ate and was able to get a decent stock of them. And after we left the house and met up with my cousins in Wisconsin, I found out they coincidentally bought a box of them too. Unfortunately everyone decided to throw them in the campfire immediately upon consumption... When I got back to my house I was eager to find out how the fit was, and was absolutely astonished to find how well they worked.
I found they tend to work best when the cupped end is facing the chamber, I figure milk caps are likewise.

that would make sense because the cup would fill with air and expand. that would make them even more airtight in the barrel

Yes, that could actually prove to be true and helpful. But I think it has more to do with aerodynamics. The sealed end is more likely to fly straight when pointed forward, the other way would create more resistance and cause it to flip around.

perhaps, but i think the ammo it is loaded with would fly out before the tube spun around

Yeah, I dunno. I think it needs to be experimented with.

i just got in from testing a few of them, nothing realy special happened. seemed to work better than milk caps but just barely. they might have some better uses than i found, maybe as pistons in small coaxical guns. i might try making one today, iv got nothing better to do and i have a spare valve from a cannon i dropped a few months ago. i feel like playing with duct tape haha

haha k. im going to the hardware store later to get some parts for a small piston gun using the plastic out of the pushpops. it should only cost me a few $$$ if it doesn't work. i think it will do fine though. im using two of the pieces for the piston to make it stronger, i epoxied them back to back. ill only go up to like 30 psi just so that they don't break because of pressure
