Let's hear some theories on the best way to launch an egg accurately without breaking in the barrel and without greatly sacrificing speed. Maybe a cardboard cylindrical shell that has paper or cotton between the egg and cardboard and separates into two pieces with each piece having a streamer tail to ensure that they break apart and leave the egg flying...

make a tube out of paper around the egg so that the front of the egg is sticking out of one end of the tube, then fill the tube behind it with toilet paper or paper towels. it works but it fires the tube still on the egg. another way would be fill the bottom of a paper dixie cup with paper towels and put the egg in it on top of the paper, im not to sure how well that would break apart either though

Sounds pretty good.

In my experience, there's no need to wad them unless they are way too small. I have a 1-1/2" barrel, and the smallest grade eggs I can get, some of those will fit (about 1/3 of a 24-egg carton). I bet if you had a bigger barrel, most eggs would go w/ or w/o wadding. Eggs are really strong, you know. And I think they will be more accurate than potatoes anyway you shoot them b/c they are closer to being round.

Yeah, well I have a 2" barrel. So I either need to wad it or make a shell, or launch it the way I was talking about launching paintballs on my other ammo thread. I think that may be the way to go. Also I am assuming it would be best to launch it with the wider side forward. Right? With the way the wind would be working on it and all it would theoretically be pushed that direction...
