I have one of these: www.rainbird.com/diy/products/valves/cpf.htmIs this adequate for a potato launcher? I currently have it installed on a micro gun, but performance is not stellar. I think that using 27 VDC from 9v batteries doesn't work so well. I'm considering using a power supply and a large capacitor to do the dirty work, and really move the diaphragm. Are there better, readily available solenoids to use?

Convert it to air trigger. You will get a big jump in performance. I think Boogie shows how on his site ,if not go to spud tech . theres a how to on the home page and a sticky in general. I suggest using a tap to make the threads, less problems with leakage. Only run the tap 2/3 of the way in, if you go all the way it will leak.

Do a search for "Modding a Sprinkler valve" or some variation thereof. Also, as previously stated, it's a sticky on the forum at spudtech.com
