My girlfriend's dad was claiming the other day that after about 30 shots from a combustion launcher, the burning in the chamber will start to change the chemical structure of the PVC and will cause it to sooner or later burst into shards all over. He says he has experience with this. It sounds to me like a load of crap. I think they tried to use CPVC and maybe some other gas. Answer this question ONLY if you have had a PVC-propane gun for over 30 shots: Have you ever had one of these blow up before?

iv heard that from some people before (none of them with any spudgun experince) but i havn't ever seen a combustion launcher explode. the only times iv heard of a pvc combustion cannon do somthing like that is when the cleanout blows out, iv still never seen it happen myself. even in cpvc it takes ALOT to blow them up, particularly with propane if you have a good fuel/air mix so that there is no fire left after it has been launched. it's almost no wear on pvc if you arn't using acetone or somthing like that. send him to spudtech.com, they sell them, if they were that dangerous then they would have been put out of buisness a long time ago

You would probably have to fire the shots off in extremely rapid succession to raise the heat enough to melt the plastic. The pipe is exposed to a temperature spike for 1/4 of a second, and then left to cool for 1 min while you vent the chamber, hardly enough temp buildup to melt it.
