Have you tried copper pipe? Its way stronger than a pill bottle, and can be made small enough to be handheld. Make a wooden handle and have the spark jump to the wall of the chamber. This is assuming you know how to solder copper pipe, if you dont, just Google it.

A very short barrel will reduce the amount of power you get out of the cannon. If you are completely hooked on the idea of a short barrel, you may want to invest in interchangable barrels so that you can have a burst disk to improve the cannons performance.

To make a gun more portable you would want it to be as short as you could get it right? So instead of sacrifising too much barrel length, make the chamber bigger in diameter and smaller in length. This would give the same amount of power but you could have a longer barrel and still keep the gun pretty short. Does this make sense?

yes, hence the WOODEN handle. You wont get shocked if you're holding it.

wonder how small u want it, use a U shaped design to save the space, and u dont have to use 3" or 4" for the chamber. i use 2" chambers always.

you must remember that a smaller barrel will limit the time the spud is under pressure. this will lower its ability to gain momentum. unless your combustion chamber is much larger you are going to see a massive loss in distance. check out my gun (click on the link in my signature). anyway, if you use a copper pipe its probably going to corrode with all of the oxidizing reactions that will take place so you might want to take that into consideration. I don't think that your going to want to have to polish the combustion chamber in between each use.

Would the way the inside of the gun looks really matter in its performance? And why not just hold the gun? There's no use for a wooden handle. Have you guys ever been shocked? I have been shocked by stun guns and this grill igniter is nothing compared to that. The stun gun shock wasn't even bad anyway, it was actually just more of the surprise that got me. Being shocked by a grill sparker is nothing, especially when it's grounded to the whole gun anyway. But if it's really that annoying just put some duct tape around the spots you touch. Or paint it with a nice thick coat.
